Alert: The Peanut Recall Hits the Fundraising Industry
The peanut butter and peanut paste recall by the Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) has expanded to include food products sold by and through the fundraising industry (January 20, 2009).
The Food and Drug Administration has since expanded its recall (January 28, 2009) of products in what could grow to be the biggest food recall in U.S. history. PCA is now recalling all of its products manufactured at its Blakely, Ga. plant since January 1, 2007. The expanded recall includes all peanuts (dry and oil roasted), granulated peanuts, peanut meal, peanut butter and peanut paste.
This is critically important because the FDA has confirmed an outbreak of illnesses caused by Salmonella is connected to a variety of products manufactured by private label food companies that included peanut butter and peanut paste from PCA. At least 502 people in more than 43 states and Canada have gotten sick since the outbreak began in the fall. Eight have died.
This web page serves as a central reference point for information about recalled fundraising products that are affected. Information is listed by manufacturer, supplier/distributor, and fundraising group (school, etc.).
This web page also lists manufacturers, suppliers/distributors, and fundraising groups that ARE NOT involved in the recall.

Please note: If you are a fundraising group and have a question about a fundraising product you have sold and if it is involved in the recall - don't call me. Please call your fundraising supplier, distributor, or the fundraising representative that sold you the product.
